There are many unique competitive events programs offered by DECA; these programs are broken up by career cluster. The 6 career clusters are:

The competitive event programs are also divided by competition type:

Principle events which are for first-year competitors
Team Decision Making Events where two experienced competitors team up and compete
Series events are events for experienced competitors who want to compete alone
Personal Financial Literacy which are events designed to gauge an individual's personal financial knowledge
Business Operations Research Events which provide opportunities for participants to demonstrate knowledge and skills needed by management personnel
Chapter Team Events provide opportunities to engage chapter members in large-scale school and/or community activities
Entrepreneurship Events provide opportunities to explore entrepreneurial concepts from idea generation, business planning, to growing an existing business
Marketing Representative Events provide opportunities for students to create promotional campaigns for a variety of industries
Professional Selling and Consulting Events provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate skills needed for a career in sales or consulting
Online Events provide opportunities for students to participate in online simulations to learn how to invest in the stock market, manage personal finances, or operate a business venture.
